My Why

Growing up, I saw both strength and struggle in my community. I saw hardworking people doing everything they could to provide, and I saw young people with real potential but not always the guidance or opportunities they needed. I knew what it felt like to want more—not just for myself, but for the people around me.

As I got older, I stayed focused. I worked hard, I learned, and I started building a better future for myself. But no matter how far I went, I never forgot where I came from.

Because the truth is, I didn’t get here alone.

That’s why I made the decision to give back.

I started small—showing up, helping where I could, supporting people, and trying to be the kind of person I needed when I was younger. And what I realized was simple but powerful: even the smallest act can make a real difference in someone’s life.

Over time, that mindset turned into something bigger. It became a mission.

That mission is now the Bakari Green Jr Foundation.

This foundation isn’t just about programs or events—it’s about people. It’s about creating opportunities, supporting families, and guiding the next generation so they have a clearer path forward than many of us did.
